Palo Verde Apartments will provide 49 newly constructed apartments for low-income households, including 25 apartments for formerly homeless veterans. The development was designed by Shelter LLP, construction was completed in November and residents will move in during January 2019.
Palo Verde Apartments incorporates numerous sustainable building features including solar panels for pre-heated hot water, drought tolerant landscaping, locally sourced materials, high-efficiency lighting and ENERGY STAR appliances, and low flow fixtures (high-efficiency showers, toilets, and lavatory faucets) to moderate on-site water consumption. Native landscaping is incorporated into the design to reduce water runoff and landscape irrigation. No turf was used in the landscaping, further conserving water usage. Water conservation efforts are also promoted through building operations and resident education.
